Finally the choice between safety and cutting weight is a little easier!  This helmet weighs in at 7 ounces!!  That's 8 ounces lighter than our normal rental helmet.  
If you're one of those you ounce cutters who cuts your toothbrushes in half and cuts the strap off your Nalgene lid, you know who you are and why this helmet makes sense. If that isn't you, this helmet is worth considering for the sheer comfort it offers vs most whitewater helmets.  It's more like wearing a beanie than a helmet for most people....and if you were going back and forth on whether to bring brats to roast over a campfire for that first night maybe shaving those 8OZ will help make your decision.
